LABOUR & BIRTH

During active labour a midwife will be with you to provide support for you and monitor the baby. Another midwife will join for the birth (vaginal delivery). There is one midwife for mom and one for baby.

POSTPARTUM CARE

Postpartum care may be done in hospital or at home depending on choice of birth place. There are usually 3-4 visits in the first week depending on individual need. We also see you and the baby in clinic at 2 and six weeks.

Our Philosophy

The foundation of our practice is based on informed choice, informed consent, bodily autonomy and respect.

We have created this clinic with the intention of families feeling heard, respected, and comforted knowing that they can birth their babies into an environment of peace, instead of fear. We believe in the incredible design of our bodies and the miracle of pregnancy and birth. We feel that it is an honour to journey with you and your family through your pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum period.

WHAT IS MIDWIFERY

Midwifery is a partnership between a midwife and a pregnant person, which is based on mutual respect. Midwifery actively encourages informed choice throughout the childbearing cycle by providing relevant, objective information about care alternatives, including risks and benefits, to facilitate informed decision making. Midwives assist the pregnant person to develop understanding, skills, and motivation necessary to take responsibility for and control of their own health and that of their family.
